These games allow the child enough opportunity to practice recognizing each letter and phonogram:

  • By sight (quickly)
  • By sound (quickly)
  • And to say the phonogram or letter once it is recognized

Once all the letter combinations (phonograms) and individual letter sounds are learned how does a child learn to blend them together verbally to read words? Section II outlines various activities to allow the child plenty of opportunities to practice consonant blending. Once again the child learns through practice by seeing letter blends, hearing you pronounce letter blends and by saying letter blends. Practice, practice, and more practice is the key to learning! It really is that simple for most people.
